The Upper Montgomery Joint Authority WWTP Upgrade Project located in Pennsburg, PA was a rare opportunity to truly collaborate with the Owner and Engineer to improve the functionality of the Wastewater Treatment Plant, which in turn improved the effluent water entering the Green Lane Reservoir.  By working together, Worth & Company and the Authority were able to meet the initial intent of the project design and further improve the effluent water for the Green Lane Reservoir, while also adding value in unforeseen areas of the project.

The project for UMJA was bid in 2017, with Worth & Company as the successful bidder.  The scope of work, based on the engineer’s design focused on a five Stage Bardenpho Activated Sludge Tank (Aeration system), New filter building housing four Tertiary Filters, Aeration Blowers, Chemical Process Room, and Mechanical/Electrical rooms, New Secondary Clarifier, New Return Activated Sludge Pumps, New Utility Water System, New Waste Activated Sludge Pumps, New Screening Building, Influent and Effluent Flume, Post Aeration System, Chlorine Contact Tank for final treatment of the wastewater, and an Operations Building that contained; a conference room, library, lobby, break room, operators’ room, work room, and many offices designated for staff.

Throughout the course of the construction project, the Worth & Company team were very professional, and maintained a positive working relationship between UMJA, Engineers, and other prime contractors. The Worth team were great leaders coordinating work amongst all other trades. They communicated well, paid close attention to all project details, and possessed great problem-solving skills as unforeseen issues arose onsite. The work was completed by the contract completion date. Additionally, they were always willing to take the time to discuss my concerns and respond to questions.
