This Co-generation system provides clean power and thermal energy to NGC’s wallboard production facility in Burlington, NJ. The facility produces approximately 3.4 megawatts of clean electricity and delivers more than 30 MMBtu of thermal energy each hour of operation while utilizing 100% of the exhaust produced. The result is overall efficiency of greater than 90%.
Heat Generated from the gas Turbine will be fed directly into the drying kiln and replace approximately 40% of the heat that was generated using NG Duct Burners. This allows the reduction of NGC’s costs, energy usage and displaces 12,500 metric tons of CO2 green-house gas emissions.
Worth & Company was contracted to install the Solar Centaur 4700 natural gas Combustion Turbine, Associated Piping, Breaching and High Temperature Duct, Insulation and Support Steel. Worth overcame several challenges, including kiln Work that could only be performed during NGC’s scheduled shut-down periods, and setting the NG Turbine. The Unit’s shaft had to be lined up perfectly to stub through the w all opening into the breaching stack.
